Technology-Assisted Learning of Social Issues in Small and Large Classes

World Issues: A Singapore’s Perspective (WISP) and FILM are two modules offered to NP students as part of their Interdisciplinary suite of modules. Both these modules encourage students to discuss, reflect and learn about active citizenry, the social environment around them, understand the challenges in social realities, and develop a response to these issues.

Through the use of technology, students are learning about social issues in a very different way as they are given platforms beyond the classroom for discussion and reflection.  Both modules put materials online for students to review using an NP-developed online platform Rubric-based E-Assessment for Learning (REAL) to allow for critique and discussion.

This paper was presented at the 11th International Symposium for Advances in Technology Education (ISATE) 2017 held at Ngee Polytechnic, Singapore.
