Game-based Learning to Improve Student Learning and Engagement in Immunology

The “Immunology Game” transforms the way students would engage with content and concepts about Immunology.  The design of the game ensures that students would have achieved specific learning objectives before they are able to progress. Students’ learning is scaffolded through the different scenarios and challenges as their tasks within the game become more complex with each level.

The overall outcome of the Immunology Game has been positive with feedback to indicate that the game has enhanced students’ interest in learning Immunology and that they are able to better visualize the immune system processes.

This paper was presented at the 11th International Symposium for Advances in Technology Education (ISATE) 2017 held at Ngee Polytechnic, Singapore.
