USE OF 3D SIMULATION OF PICK-AND-PLACE ROBOTIC ARM FOR TEACHING CONTROLLER DESIGN

Using 3D simulation courseware, Jaseema Banu and Li Yinbei of the School of Engineering (Electrical Engineering Division) were able to increase the hands-on learning opportunity as part of the  Controller Design module. This 3D simulation courseware allows students to experiment with and put their knowledge to practice beyond the practice time with the physical equipment in the laboratory. This enables students to “practice” anytime the students are ready, and also allows the students to analyse their “failure-points’ before re-trying, resulting in students engaging in higher order thinking and improving their performance in the module.
